I wanted to dive in again on the Return On Investment (ROI) of SEO For attorneys and the legal industry compared to Google AdWords.

I compare my campaign to AdWords because, in my opinion, it is the only other online form of paid advertising (besides using click funnels through Facebook) that stacks up and delivers in today's market. After Some evaluation on one of my most successful client's programs, I was able to get the exact click-through rate he had acquired in a quarter. This was when I realized we knocked it out of the park In the SEO industry; this is the dream goal and a near impossible achievement. If I am right, we might have one of the most successful SEO campaigns I have ever heard of or even read about. This is a part of the email I was able to send over:

"If my numbers are correct, your current results compared to an AdWords spend is over a million dollars. The campaign has accomplished this with 100x less the amount spent. "

I took one of my client's sites and did the full breakdown to understand exactly what his ROI was for the quarter. First I had to take a look at the Google Maps Listing we had at #1 for multiple terms in his industry:
  • Quarter: Total appearances in search (Google Maps) = 13,200
  • Quarter: Total views or clicks to open your listing (Google Maps) = 7,490
  • Quarter: Total interactions, calls, directions or clicks over to site: = 218
I then used sem-rush to find out what Google charged per click for the top keywords he was ranking for in not only Google Maps but Google Search as well.
Campaign at Cost per click:
  • (Clients City) DUI Lawyer CPC: $109.05
  • DUI Lawyer (Clients City) CPC: $129.65
  • (Second City) DUI Lawyer CPC: 120.09
let's take a look at this as an average CPC value:
  • Averaging it to $100 per click on prime keywords:
  • 7,000 clicks x $100 = $700,000 Adwords Campaign Spend
To drill the value in for this SEO program and take it another step I decided to look at a cost per lead system. What if none of the 7.5k people looking for attorney clicked on you? This scenario is highly doubtful. All you have to do is ask your self "when was the last time I looked for an attorney and why?" I don't need to know the answer to that, but my guess is because you needed an attorney.:
  • Adwords at Cost Per Conversion:
  • 218 x $100 = $21,180 at cost per conversion (doesn't exist)
135 clicks came to the site from maps. This quarter we have had 7,500 website views on top of this with the majority being for Domestic Violence, Aggravated DUI Class 4 Felony and Possession of Marijuana. Those keywords add another 7,000+ click ranging between $19.60 - $120.00. If we average $50 per click, we are looking at another $500,000 in equivalent click cost.
  • Averaging it to $100 per click on prime keywords:
  • 7,000 clicks x $100 = $700,000 Adwords Campaign Spend
  • Averaging it to $50 per click on prime keywords:
  • 7,000 clicks x $50 = $500,000 Adwords Campaign Spend
Total campaign value in "CLICK BUDGET" That quarter: 1.5 Million
clients spend on program:$7500
Keep in mind these numbers include only one of this client's websites and just organic search, no referrals, social clicks or direct visits. Please correct me if I am wrong on these numbers. In the SEO industry, this is the dream goal and a near impossible achievement. If I am right, we might have one of the most successful SEO campaigns I have ever heard of or even read about.
